Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds (smile lines) or/and jawline. They are designed to effectively create volume, and to revitalise one’s appearance. Dermal fillers consist of Hyaluronic acid which is a material that naturally exists in our body. Hyaluronic acid is a sucrose molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and can act as a lubricant, as well as regulating water balance in the skin.
Uses for Dermal Fillers, include:
– Smoothing nasolabial folds (smile lines)
– Enhancing lip fullness
– Filling and adding volume to sunken cheeks
– Sculpting and contouring chin and jawline
What does the procedure entail and is it painful?
Typically, the dermal filler approach requires little to no anaesthetic as the dermal filler contains local anaesthetic in itself. The procedure is simple and straight-forward, involving a few small injections directly into the desired area. The outcome can be seen almost immediately. To maintain the desired results, regular repeated treatments are needed. There may be a slight discomfort whilst the filler is being injected, nonetheless, to provide some relief and ease as much discomfort as possible, our fillers contain a pre-mixed local anaesthetic.
What are the side effects?
Clients can easily confuse side effects to reactions, so it’s very important to understand what side effects to expect.
Side effects that are completely normal after facial injections – can include;
Reactions generally occur immediately after the needle injection and are generally mild to moderate and commonly disappear shortly after the injection and resolve themselves a few days after the injection/s into the skin.
Are dermal fillers suitable for you?
As with any beauty treatment, injections should be avoided in areas where there is any swelling, inflammation or infection. Dermal fillers are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. History of cold sores in the area/s to be treated, it is recommended that you take anti- herpes medicine 1 to 2 weeks before your treatment to help reduce the chances of an outbreak.
